Job Title: Night Shift Operations Manager (Logistics / Sortation) Contract Type: Permanent Location: London Salary: £45,000 – £50,000 – dependent on experience The Opportunity A rapidly scaling logistics operation is seeking an experienced Night Shift Operations Manager to lead high-volume sortation activity within a time-critical environment. This role is ideally suited to candidates from large-scale, metrics-driven operations, particularly those with experience in environments such as e-commerce fulfilment, parcel sortation, or automated logistics. If you’ve previously operated as a Shift Manager or Area Manager within a highly structured, KPI-led operation, this role will strongly align with your background. The Role As Night Shift Operations Manager, you will take full responsibility for overnight operations, ensuring performance, safety, and service targets are consistently achieved. You’ll lead and develop frontline teams, use data to drive continuous improvement, and act as the senior operational decision-maker on shift. Key Responsibilities • Lead and oversee night shift sortation and warehouse operations • Ensure throughput, service, and productivity targets are met or exceeded • Manage, motivate, and coach operational teams to high performance • Support recruitment, onboarding, and training of new operatives • Own health & safety standards on shift, driving continuous improvement • Use data and performance metrics to identify inefficiencies and implement improvements • React decisively to operational issues, adapting plans in real time • Collaborate with site leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to support overall site performance About You This role will particularly suit candidates who have: • Experience as a Shift Manager, Area Manager, or Operations Leader within a fast-paced logistics or fulfilment environment • A strong background in high-volume, time-critical operations • Confidence using data, KPIs, and performance dashboards to drive results • Proven people leadership skills, including coaching and performance management • The ability to make sound decisions under pressure in a live operational environment • A hands-on leadership style and strong operational presence on the floor • Experience working night shifts or managing unsociable hours What’s On Offer · Ownership of a full night shift operation · Clear accountability and autonomy · Opportunity to apply structured, data-led leadership experience in a scaling business# · Strong platform for progression into senior operations leadership roles
